Today I’m working on step two of the painting, where I’ll transfer my drawing to watercolor paper. My good friend Joyce showed me this technique long ago. First I’ll trace a line drawing of my sketch on tracing paper (top half of photo):
Next I’ll use a pencil to rub graphite on the back of my tracing:
I lightly wipe off the excess graphite with a tissue.
The last step is to transfer the line drawing by placing the tracing right-side up on the watercolor and re-tracing it. Here’s the result:
